Counterfeit Kruggerand!! on Kitco...
 

It has sometimes been suggested that Kitco is quite negative towards increasing PM prices because their main customers are jewelry producers who don't like the jewelry demand to be affected by increasing PM prices.
Some have also suggested that there are anti-PM plants active on the Kitco forum. Now there is an entertaining thread there, Counterfeit Krugerrand!!!, which starts with a quite unlikely anti gold story involving a fake Krugerrand made out of nazi gold !:D. The story is then shot down by some writers who question the real agenda of the writer, followed by an army off anti PM shills who voice supportive " this information very interesting" statements.

Edit: I think that the Kitco site is pretty good, but there is indeed a surprisingly large number of anti PM writers there.

If the supposed story were true, I don't think I'd care whether a Krug were made from Nazi gold or gold just dug up in South Africa... if it's gold and passes my Fisch detector, I'm happy. :bear_tongue:

I just read that thread over on KITCO. If it ever happened at all, I would say it came out of the mouth of some blow-hard dealer trying to look intelligent. You can look at the edges of most any stack of Krugerrands, and visually see slight differences in their edge thickness. Nothing new there. Some people just like to talk when they don't have anything worth saying.

The "bad silver" thread I saw was a joke. If I were in the position of APMEX, I would refund his purchase price on the returned metal and never do business with that party again.

Looks like the vast majority of the posts in that Counterfeit Krugerrand thread are from members who have been involved in the forum (and apparently gold too) since all the way back in October-December of 2007. Geeez, what a massive pool of experience ! The original poster of the fake story has a total of NINE posts ?

You cant bet there is people working 24/7 to badmouth Gold and Silver. They have been there since 2001 when I showed up. Then the forum got regulated and now Cajus can ban the pro Gold types when they need a dive.
Very interesting set up over there.

When they want a dive, you'll see topics like counterfeit Gold, Gold is just a commodity like an apple, Technical shows nose dive, overbought, Dollar rebound, etc. Quite prolific.

I`m aware of what is called Nazi gold.There are 2 types of gold,newly mined and old gold.All old gold has been scrapped and recycled countless times and there is no way to ascertain its origin.There is no test available for Nazi gold.

I read an article many years ago regarding "Nazi gold".

The gist of the article was that some swiss francs were found to have higher than normal mercury levels. Supposedly because the Swiss had acquired gold from the Nazis that came from dental fillings.

However this has been disputed by Swiss officials and historians but who knows. This article admits that Nazi gold is now present in much of the worlds gold supply as the Allies had the gold smelted after the war.

The Nazis were anti gold standard I do believe which makes sense considering the Treaty of Versailles "stole" all of theirs in the form of reparations.
